Gaelic Symphony - As the first symphony composed and published by a female American composer, Maestro Mark Thielen will identify the odds overcome by Amy Beach in 1896.
The study of music has many connections with the multitude of humanities disciplines. With an emphasis on appreciation, a jaunt into history and a hint of technique, lectures for adults stretch music’s value beyond entertainment.
The ISO’s Listeners’ Club, in partnership with the Lakeland Public Library, presents free lectures and discussions related to upcoming ISO performances and symphonic music in general. Learn about composers, musical themes, instruments and your ISO musicians in an interactive lecture once a month.
