CANCELLED: ISO Listeners’ Club: The Mark of Zorro

Listeners’ Club:

Second Wednesdays @ 6 p.m.
Lakeland Public Library

Main Library Meeting Room

The Mark of Zorro – The beginning of the film industry relied on live orchestras to provide the soundtrack, and much of that music was improvised or presumed lost. Maestro Mark Thielen will discuss the beginnings of the film orchestra industry and the tools and tricks used to enhance the motion picture for audiences.

The study of music has many connections with the multitude of humanities disciplines. With an emphasis on appreciation, a jaunt into history and a hint of technique, lectures for adults stretch music’s value beyond entertainment.

The ISO’s Listeners’ Club, in partnership with the Lakeland Public Library, presents free lectures and discussions related to upcoming ISO performances and symphonic music in general. Learn about composers, musical themes, instruments and your ISO musicians in an interactive lecture once a month.
