Workshop: Crafting Memorable Dialogue– Joni M. Fisher, presenter
Workshop Description:
We’ve all slogged through novels with boring, predictable, or chit-chat dialogue. In many genres, dialogue makes up half of the novel, so dialogue can make or break your bond with readers.
Learn how to craft believable, quotable dialogue, by discovering when and when not to use dialogue, by infusing the appropriate level of conflict for each scene, and by individualizing characters through 12 key speech markers.
Registration required. Limited to 20 participants.
Participants interested in having their manuscript critiqued must email it to Brenda Patterson (Brenda.Patterson@lakelandgov.net) no later than Wednesday, April 5. Manuscript guidelines:
- manuscript length: 9,000 words or less
- Word format (.doc or .docx)
- double-spaced with a 1-inch margin
- first page of manuscript should have name (and pseudonym) and email address
Ms. Fisher will make extensive comments, suggestions, and ask questions using the feature in MS Word called Track Changes.
