Writers @ LPL [Virtual meeting] - The Business of Being a Writer

The Business of Being a Writer

Writing is an art. Writing is a craft.

Writers create new worlds with fantastical beasts and arcane rituals; writers hone words into tools (and yes, even weapons). This duality is part of writing’s allure.

When people dream about writing, they envision talk show interviews, signings, book awards, and fame. But few think about writing being a business with all that a writing/book publishing business entails, like getting an EIN; hiring editors and book designers; negotiating writing fees, and (gasp!) taxes.

Learn about the basics of writing as a business at February’s Writers @ LPL meeting.

Writers @ LPL is a writing group hosted by Lakeland Public Library (100 Lake Morton Drive). Writers @ LPL meets online the first Wednesday 5:30 - 7 pm each month via Zoom. For more info, contact Brenda Patterson at (863) 834-4276 or Brenda.Patterson@lakelandgov.net.
